Alonso: My Only Goal In Singapore Is To Win

Spanish Ferrari driver and current Championship leader Fernando Alonso needs to attack in the last seven races, facing the remaining seven Grand Prix weekends as a hunter and not the hunted.

The man from Oviedo has scored points in every race this season, with the exception of the Belgian Grand Prix, when he got hit from behind by the Lotus of Frenchman Romain Grosjean. The Spaniard, who has not won since the German Grand Prix in July, currently has a 37-point lead over McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton.

Alonso feels that it's too early to say that the F1 title is in reach, especially because of the fact that he feels he has the slowest car of all the frontrunners. Alonso and Hamilton, though, are not the only title contenders as Lotus driver Kimi Raikkonen is just one point behind Hamilton, while both Red Bull drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are still in the running.

Speaking to Marca, Alonso said: "There are seven finals. I must face these seven races like a chaser and not a leader because there are 175 points up for grabs and 37 are nothing. You can go on a run. We must try to win the next three races and we are going to bring new parts just like the others. My only goal in Singapore is to win. I have to put on a perfect display right to the end."

When Alonso was asked who he feared the most in the title chase, he joked: "If I had to choose between Hamilton or Vettel, I would choose Raikkonen."

The Spanish two time F1 Champion highlighted his former team mate at McLaren Lewis Hamilton and his strengths, who has won two of the last three races.

"Hamilton is the only one who is capable of winning without having the best car, which is evident as the others only win when they have a good car. The rivals will change by the end of the World title because it is very tight behind," Alonso added.
