Ducati has confirmed the signing of Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider Cal Crutchlow for the 2014 and 2015 MotoGP seasons with the factory Ducati Team. The 27 year old Coventry-born will be reunited with his ex-Yamaha Tech 3 team mate Andrea Dovizioso. In a bid to get closer to the frontrunning teams, the Briton and the Italian will work on
developing the Desmosedici and growing Ducati’s MotoGP project.
Having achieved four podium finishes and one pole position so far this season, Crutchlow is currently enjoying his best MotoGP season to date. He currently sits in fifth position in the Riders championship points standings.
At Ducati, Crutchlow will be replacing 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden. The American, who joined the Italian outfit in 2009, will end his five-year professional relationship with the Ducati Team at the end of this season.
Following the announcement of Crutchlow heading to Ducati next season, Monster Yamaha Tech 3 has confirmed that Moto2 rider Pol Espargaro will join the French-based squad for the 2014 season to race alongside Bradley Smith.
